Leaving lasting legaciesWe are at forefront of meaningful social value outcomes and have established processes and protocols to exceed client expectations. Social value is delivered by our local teams, who understand local challenges and needs from our network of 27 regional offices.
Local social value delivery leadWe provide a dedicated social value (SV) manager for each project, who will get to know the client organisation and understand their priorities and take responsibility for delivery of all social and economic values for the project.
To maximise the positive impact a project can have on the local economy; we develop bespoke social value strategies for each scheme. These are based on an analysis of local need and priorities, maximising the positive legacy we create around each of our projects.
Plan for successWe believe that social value must be driven by our client’s strategy and vision. Our SV manager will work with the client organisation to agree Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) and a collaborative plan for implementation.
Agreeing targetsKPI’s will be both realistic - based on our experience of what really can be delivered as part of the contract and stretch - to push us and our supply chain to do even better.
Working in partnership Key to the success of any SV plan is the partnership organisations that we work with. These will include our supply chain, local training providers, employment agencies, charities and VCSE’s. Kier has an established network of SV partners who share our commitment to meaningful outcomes and who we work with across our schemes.
Evidence gatheringAs our projects progress, we collate accurate records of SV outcomes, regularly reporting these back to the client against the agreed targets. SV isn’t simply a numbers game; we target meaningful initiatives that have the widest legacy in the communities in which we live and build.

Social value plan implementationLed by our SV Manager, we will organise a suite of initiatives to deliver the agreed outcomes. These can range from school visits to employment opportunities, training, up-skilling, charity work and apprenticeships.
Concluding the planAt project handover, we will provide the client with a full report of the outcomes of the SV plan, including breakdowns of local spend and how we have performed against the KPI targets. We gather the success stories for case studies and publicity of best practices along with images and testimonials.
